How We Started

This informal network started in May 2002 with a vision for leaders and helpers running parent toddler groups from different churches in the Tunbridge Wells area.

Running a group each week is an ongoing task. It is also demanding in many ways.

Two friends, Claire Wells & Gaynor Pritchard were both leading Parent Toddler Groups in the Tunbridge Wells area. Having realised the value of praying together for their groups, exchanging ideas and inspiration, they wondered if others would like to join them for a lunchtime prayer meeting.

A meeting was soon arranged. Claire & Gaynor discovered that there were many midweek groups running across the different churches in and around the town. They contacted them through the Churches Together network and with the support of a Pre- School Learning Alliance PT Group Development Worker (Kent Early Years initiative) who visited groups and publicised the meeting details.

There was an encouraging attendance but even if it had been just one extra group represented it would have been worthwhile for the prayer and sharing opportunities.

These meetings have been held every other month since then and Claire produces a simple summary for local groups. In 2004 the Network ran its first Annual Conference (see reports)

It is encouraging that prayer meetings are being held in nearby towns of Sevenoaks and Tonbridge.

We pray that those who hear about this network will share the vision and take the initiative to pray with toddler groups in their own localities. So much can be shared and we are often welcoming the same families who may be attending different groups during the week!

One of these initiatives is 'Daniel's Den' based in Wembley. A new prayer network has been launched there and it is good to hear of other groups getting together to pray for these groups and the foundations for family life.

Prayer is the foundation for our gatherings and we are called to sow seeds for God’s Kingdom through serving in the groups we lead, help with or support.
